Quantitative Analysis Elements
This section introduces and explains the four quantitative analysis elements to the business case: financial analysis, business modeling, top-down business case, and bottoms-up benefits case. For each element, core objectives and analysis techniques are tabulated. There is a deeper discussion around the latter two components to explain the differences and complementary relationship between the top-down business case and bottoms-up benefits case.

Business Case Modeling
In the third section, we go over the process of developing a business case. This process goes through the five phases of 1) Financial Decomposition, 2) Opportunity Identification, 3) Opportunity Quantification, 4) Benefit Validation, and 5) Business Case Finalization. Sub-topics include the Benefit Matrix, benefit categories, and financial business case metrics. This is the same approach followed by top strategy consulting firms when they develop business cases.

Sample Business Case Model
This section is all about the Excel financial model. It includes the Excel file itself (embedded/attached in one of the slides) and documentation for the model. The financial model includes 3 primary sections: 1) financial summary overview, 2) breakdown of benefits (into revenue enhancements, cost benefits, and capital benefits), and 3) breakdown of the cost of investment.
